The KG Series is a line that is designed and built to excel in the most challenging applications. Additionally, aluminum tubes are standard on 1-1/2" – 8" bore cylinders (with the exception of 7" bore). The aluminum tube is hard coat anodized. The hard coating is an electro-chemical process, which produces a very dense surface of aluminum oxide. This surface has extreme hardness (60 RC.), excellent wear and corrosion resistance, and low coefficient of friction.
Composite tube is standard on 7" and 10" – 24" bore cylinders. Our composite tubing is a robust material that weighs less than traditional metallic materials. Composite tubing is also an option on 1-1/2" – 6" and 8" bores.

The KG Series is available in 17 bores sizes ranging from 1-1/2” to 24.” In fact, a complete range of bore sizes enables the KG Series to be a problem solver in almost every desirable valve actuator application. 

Piston rod diameters range from 5/8” to 3-1/2.” Furthermore, the standard KG Series end caps are accurately machined from precision square steel blocks. The end caps are either painted with standard black paint or painted with black epoxy paint. Note that standard black paint is the standard and the black epoxy paint is an option. Foam Seal Vacuum Pads Handle Rough and Uneven Surfaces

A new line of rectangular foam seal vacuum pads for handling rough and moderately uneven surfaces such as concrete, stone, tread-plate, wood, and various composites during fabrication and on-site installation applications is being introduced by ANVER Corporation of Hudson, Massachusetts.

ANVER’s FP Foam Seal Rectangular Vacuum Pads feature steel construction with a welded steel lip which secures a neoprene rubber slip-on edge and a soft, durable foam sealing edge to maintain them firmly in position. Ideally suited for handling rough and moderately uneven surfaces, they can be changed in minutes without tools to help meet demanding jobsite schedules.

LO-PROFILE Pneumatic Hollow Hub Cylinder

A product line of large hollow hub air cylinders is offered in double acting, double ended configurations.
Products are designed for clamping and holding parts while a secondary operation is performed through the open center.
A typical application is where a flexible diaphragm is clamped between two metal retainers while a rivet or other form of fastener is added to the assembly thru the open center.

Micro Solenoid Driver Connector Saves Energy, Coils

New Universal 2 finger JGP parallel gripper from SCHUNK

SCHUNK’s parallel gripper family JGP is very economical and can be used in numerous applications. 

The JGP parallel grippers represent the leading technology in SCHUNK’s new “Compact Class” – offering all essential functions and an excellent price-performance ratio. This extremely compact and universal pneumatic gripper is intended for use in clean to slightly dirty environments, and is available in sizes 64 to 160. 

Thanks to its compact design, the JGP is particularly ideal for applications in which only limited space is available and interfering contours have to be avoided. Their oval pistons, wedge-hook kinematics and sturdy T-slot guidance enable the JGP grippers to achieve gripping forces of 56.2 to 537.3 lbf at a weight of 0.6 to 7.3 lb, depending on size. The stroke ranges from 0.24 to 0.63 inches per finger. The recommended workpiece weights are 2.8 to 18.1 lb in standard cases, for example with purely metallic friction grip between the workpiece and gripper finger. If other materials or form-fit fingers are used, much heavier workpieces can also be moved without difficulty.

An extensive range of accessories is available for the JGP, including pressure maintenance valves, finger blanks and fittings as well as a quick-change jaw system. Position monitoring can be performed by means of magnetic switches or inductive proximity switches. Further sensors also enable the incorporation of measuring system functions, for example with the FMS force measuring system, the FPS flexible position sensor, or the extremely accurate APS analog position sensor. As a result, the JGP can also be used in complex assembly tasks that require precise positioning at a defined force.

CL03 Pneumatic Wash-Down Valve Now Offers Integrated Fieldbus 

The new Rexroth has expanded its offering of the CL03 (Clean Line) pneumatic valve manifold system to include a version with an integrated fieldbus. The new CL03 version supports the common fieldbus protocols Profibus, DeviceNet and CANopen, as well as Rexroth’s Drive & Diagnostic Link (DDL).

The CL03 Series is used particularly in areas where direct contact with food is possible, as well as areas where high-pressure, high-temperature cleaning of machines is required. The special materials and construction of the CL03 were tested for use with chemicals and allow for easy cleaning. The hygienic design of the polymer cover, without any seams or gaps, prevents dirt accumulation. The CL03 is mounted directly in the system and does not require a control cabinet, which means that no additional tubing or cables for power or compressed air supply are necessary.

The system can incorporate up to 16 valves in one unit. The CL03 valve manifolds can be individually expanded, even after assembly, without needing to disassemble the entire unit. The CL03 consists of individual base plates, each with its own internal cabling and can be separately supplied with compressed air. As a result, up to 32 different pressures can be used in one system. The new valve unit with integrated fieldbus has two separate power supplies, which is advantageous for emergency off solutions.

The CL03 pneumatic valves have flows of 0.7 to 0.85 Cv (700 to 850 l/min.) and fulfill the requirements for the IP69K protection class. The previous offering already includes CL03 valve manifold systems with multi-pin electrical connections, a direct fieldbus connection with an IP 65 protection class, and a remotely mounted bus module with an IP69K protection class. Existing multi-pin plug solutions can easily be exchanged for an integrated fieldbus.

Parker Kneeling Bus Module Facilitates Seamless Passenger Access

The Pneumatic Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE:PH) introduces a new, easy-to-install, lightweight Split System/High Boy Kneeling Module designed to provide seamless split-level, left/right/complete kneel and high-boy functions for easy, safe bus passenger access. A radical improvement over existing technologies which typically require manufacturers to assemble an array of pneumatic valves, connectors and other components into a complete system, the Parker Kneeling Module integrates pneumatic components to simplify installation and maintenance while providing a full range of kneeling capabilities for large passenger vehicles.

The new module consists of a durable, lightweight manifold with machined aluminum-anodized body, which houses four pneumatic poppet valves that inflate/exhaust axle-mounted air bags. At the flick of a switch, the module routes compressed air, in tandem with kneeling position requirements, to quickly lower suspension for passenger loading and then returns vehicle to over-the-road travel height.

The combination of solid housing, poppet valves (1.4 Cv flow) and heavy-duty solenoids results in a durable unit with built-in dirt, water and salt resistance. Flapper-type exhaust protectors permit air flow to atmosphere, while keeping contaminants out to heighten its reliability factor. The system also features specially designed sealing made to withstand operating temperatures from -40˚ to 122˚F and provide excellent resistance to aggressive fuels/oils. The module possesses operating pressures from 60 to 150 psi with standard coil voltages available in both 12VDC and 24VDC versions. Other voltages are available through special order.

Explosion-proof I/P Transducer is now ATEX Intrinsically Safe Compliant

ControlAir Inc. announces the Type-950XP Explosion-proof I/P Transducer is now ATEX compliant. The I/P Transducer was designed to deliver reliable high performance for the toughest applications in the most hazardous environments. The Type 950XP approved by Factory Mutual (FM), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Cenelec for explosion-proof applications, is now compliant with the ATEX directive 94/9/EC for equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in Europe.

The Type 950XP converts an electrical current signal to a proportionally linear pneumatic output to actuate valves. Its NEMA 4X (IP65) housing is designed for both Intrinsically Safe and Explosion-Proof operation. The “Tapped Exhaust” option on the Type 950XP is used to connect piping which captures natural gas that vents from the unit and escorts it to a safe area, often away from the application, where it can be safely released as required. Advanced circuitry includes electronic feedback control for superior vibration protection and highly accurate output. In addition to accuracy of 0.10%, the Type 950XP also delivers low hysteresis, and excellent repeatability. This is performance that surpasses most control system requirements. Yet because it typically consumes only .05 SCFM (0.11m3/hr) of air in operation, it not only costs less to buy, it costs less to operate as well. The Type 950XP is able to process impure air thus reducing downtime. Easy access Zero and Span adjustments make bench or field calibration quick and easy. For operating versatility, options include direct, reverse and split range modes. 

The Type 950XP I/P Transducer has a built-in volume-booster that provides up to 10 SCFM air flow capacity to drive large valves, cylinders and actuators. The unit utilizes an input signal of 4-20 mA and has field-selectable output ranges of 3-15 psig, 3-27 psig, 6-30 psig and 1-17 psig. Supply pressures range up to 100 psig. The standard mounting bracket allows mounting directly on a valve, wall, panel, or pipe. The Type 950XP is insensitive to position, vibration, supply pressure variation and RMI/EFI interference.

The Type 950XP joins ControlAir’s “family” of ATEX approved Transducer products. Approved for use with natural gas, it is ideal for natural gas extraction and transport applications such as natural gas gathering stations, compressor stations, pipeline feed, and booster stations that are in remote locations and often do not have access to compressed plant air for operation of pneumatic valve actuators. The Type 950XP I/P Transducer is also ideal for valve control applications where the environment can be hazardous, in such industries as, chemical, petrochemical, paint, mining, and oil and gas.

ULTRA-MINIATURE PRESSURE COMPENSATED FLOW CONTROL VALVE

Beswick Engineering announces the release of an ultra-miniature Pressure Compensated Flow Control Valve with low friction diaphragm – PCFCD-1N1. The PCFCD-1N1 is designed to maintain a constant flow rate, which the customer can adjust, regardless of upstream or downstream pressure variations. It works with both liquids (incompressible fluids) and gasses (compressible fluids) but is primarily intended for the control of liquids. The pressure regulation is accomplished with a low friction diaphragm mechanism. Beswick has applied for patent protection on this unique valve.

The PCFCD-1N1 sets an industry standard for miniaturization. It is lightweight….tipping the scales at only 48 grams. Customers will find it particularly useful when space, weight, and precise liquid flow control are critical. 

The PCFCD-1N1 controls flow rates of 0 to 4.2 gallons per hour of Water (0 to 20 cubic feet/hour of Air). It is especially suited for the control of low flow rates. The maximum rated inlet supply pressure is 500 psig. Both the inlet and outlet ports are tapped 10-32. The valve body is both small and lightweight allowing for convenient in-line mounting without the need for a panel mount thread. The PCFCD-1N1 is currently available in brass. Buna-N is the standard seal material. Fluorocarbon (Viton) is optional.

At its point of suction, the plastic bag solution features one of PIAB’s new BL-3P suction cups, which are offered in three different sizes, 30, 40 and 50, depending upon application size requirements. The suction cup is made of DURAFLEX®, a strong, durable and elastic material with excellent sealing capability and the sealing lip is a very soft and thin durometer, while the multiple bellows is a more rigid durometer. The unique characteristics of the BL-3P suction cup’s design provides enough strength and stability for high initial flow applications, while still providing the softness and flexibility required to seal uneven surfaces.

With better sealing capabilities and stronger, more stable bellows, the BL-3P suction cups also allow applications to run at higher speeds. The larger inner neck diameter and specially designed high flow fitting allow the high initial flow needed for a secure grip. Also, the BL-3P suction cups help to increase flexibility, as they are more pliable and better able to handle plastic bags of a wide range of sizes and shapes.

The E02/E22/E32 Series electronic proportional regulators quickly and accurately adjusts output pressure in relation to an electrical control signal. The Actuator Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation introduces a next-generation solution for NFPA cylinder applications. 

The new 3MA Series and 4MA Series of cylinders deliver superior performance resulting from efficient design, reduced weight, low friction, and advanced sealing technology. The 4MA Series is designed for customization and offers availability of all options.

Because 3MA and 4MA rod lock cylinders are designed to hold loads in a static condition when air pressure is removed from the system, they are ideal for clamping, load holding or emergency stop (E-stop) applications.

Available in seven different bore sizes, from 1.125” to 5.00”, 3MA cylinders have strokes in any practical length and have a variety of rod diameters. 3MA cylinders have an operating temperature range of -10° F to +165° F (-23°C to +74°) and a maximum operating air pressure of 250 PSIG. The unique 1.125” bore includes a hydraulic version (Parker 3ML Series) with a maximum operating hydraulic pressure of 1,100 PSIG.

The 3MA Series is the latest in a line of Parker NFPA cylinders spanning 30 years of innovative design and production that includes MA Series and 2MA Series cylinders. Original breakthroughs introduced with these product lines included aluminum end caps and tubing, check seal cushions, and tie-rod mounted sensors. 

The use of lighter composites that deliver the same service life as aluminum or bronze, combined with die-cast end cap design, make the average weight of the 3MA cylinder 15% less than comparable cylinders. Composite materials significantly reduce inertia of moving parts and generate less friction than other materials. An added advantage of composite piston and end cap inserts is an automatic noise pollution reduction of 12 dB when compared with typical aluminum cylinder designs. Environmentally friendly, all 3MA materials are 100% recyclable, including the aluminum, steel, composite parts, and the nitrile and urethane seals.

All moving components in the 3MA cylinder are designed for low friction, which results in less wear. This is accomplished with zero leakage because of rounded-lip rod and piston seals that glide on lubricant film, self-lubricating Carboxilated nitrile polymer to maximize seal life, and nitrile end seals on the smooth bore of the cylinder body, which is the optimal sealing surface.

The cylinder’s standard mount feature accommodates almost all NFPA mounts as accessories. 3MA’s flexible design means that mountings can be installed at the factory or from separately ordered kits. For precise load holding and emergency-stop situations, where safety is critical, the 3MAJ rod lock cylinder is also available. Parker 3MAJ rod locks are IP67 rated, exceed NEMA 4X requirements, and are classified as EN 954 Category 1 for robust applications.

The innovative 3MA features advanced end cap and piston design. Anodized, high-pressure, die-cast aluminum heads and caps for flexible mounting. Full-flow ports combine with low inertia piston rod assembly to minimize cylinder response time. Floating check-seal design combines sealing capability of a lipseal with check valve action for quick stroke reversal, while outstanding cushioning performance is the result of sophisticated piston architecture and durable urethane seals. 

Sensor-ready, the 3MA has a unique extruded-profile cylinder body that provides integrated grooves to minimize sensor installation time, maximize sensor protection, and eliminate the need for brackets. A magnetic piston ring is standard. Sensors drop into grooves in the cylinder body for easy, inexpensive assembly and protection. Most sensors are CE approved and UL listed, with options that include ATEX, NAMUR (intrinsically safe) compliance, as well as meeting CSA and Weld Immune specifications. All sensors are RoHS compliant or excluded from the directive.

Proven exterior toughness is established from corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum alloy heads, caps and cylinder body; zinc plated steel end cap fasteners; case-hardened, hard chrome plated steel piston rods; and a durable urethane wiper designed to remove external debris and adherents from the piston rod during the entire stroke.

Standard 3MA mode code options include piston bumper seals, traditional ¼” urethane bumpers, fluorocarbon rod seals, stainless steel rods and double rod ends.

The Parker 4MA, designed for customization, meets the demand when cylinder flexibility is mandatory and access to all cylinder options is required. Standard features of the 4MA Series include a larger bore size range, standard and oversize rods and an externally removable rod gland (bearing). Versatile Series CA44 Plug-in Pneumatic Valves have integrated AS-i connection

Series CA44 valves are two station valve manifolds for AS-i serial link (bus) applications, complying with AS-I specification V2.11 Rev. 1. Manifold choices include: with or without digital inputs, and with or without auxiliary power. The valve stations can be 4-way, 2 position valves, or dual 3-way, 2 position valves, or a blanking plate. The plug-in valve design simultaneously makes both the electrical and pneumatic connections when plugging the valve into place - eliminating the need to disturb electrical wiring connections. 

The CA44 valve flow is 0.2 Cv (200 l/min) with a pressure range of 29 to 116 psi. Voltage is 24VDC with a protection rating of IP67 (NEMA 6). The new Viking XtremeÒ incorporates innovative spool technology for effective use in applications where pneumatic systems have to operate at extreme temperatures. Viking Xtreme

Traditional solenoid valves typically use either an O-ring or lip seals between the valve spool and body. The Viking Xtreme’s aluminum spool, with a specially engineered over-molded

Humidity resistant Diaphragm Pump for Medical Technology and Laboratory 

Rietschle Thomas engineers solved the problem by using umbrella EPDM valves instead of the common but corrosion sensitive stainless steel valves. Also all aluminum parts of the 2119 are protected against corrosion by an epoxide coating. The pump console is plastic injected and gives the extremely compact pump a favourable and modern design.

The two-staged diaphragm pump reaches a free flow of 19 l/min and a maximum vacuum of -900mbar. It is suited solely for vacuum applications such as steam autoclaves, vacuum ovens, vacuum mixers and pumps for aspiration.

The Pneumatic Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation announces the addition of a Dual 4-Way Valve to the Moduflex Valves System Series. 

This valve combines 2, 4-way 
valves into one valve body. Valve modules can now be ordered as dual valves or single valves.

The Dual 4-way valve module has two independently operated valves in the Size 1 valve body. Though there are two valves in one body, there are no differences in dimensions 
between double or single valves and there is only a slight reduction in flow when compared to a single 4-way valve.

These valves can be combined with other dual 3-way or single 4-way valves of either Size 1 or Size 2 valves, without transition kits, to fit all types of applications. Moduflex Valves 
are available in 24vdc solenoid or air pilot operated versions with a universal manual override. The Universal Manual override is available as either Locking / Non-Locking, and can be 
changed in the field to Non-Locking override only, which helps with machine set-up. When the Locking override is disabled, unwanted locking of the manual override is eliminated.

Rexroth modular Series NL1 mini FRLs feature 1/8” and ¼” NPT ports 
The new Series NL1 mini air preparation units from Rexroth are fully modular and customizable. The units are easy to assemble (without tools), and easy to install and maintain. Series NL1 features transparent polycarbonate and solid metal bowls, and a choice of 1/8” or ¼” NPT ports. Series NL1 complements the Series AS2 and AS3 (1/4 to ½ ports) family of FRLs.

The attractive Series NL1 FRLs have a rugged, die-cast zinc body. The line offers filtration choices of 5, 0.3 or 0.01 micron, plus carbon filters for odor and vapor removal. The P5T2 Series features short-stroke, heavy-duty performance in a 
smaller footprint than conventional thrusters that use external cylinders.

Parker's innovative design of the P5T2 addresses requirements in the packaging, conveyor and assembly markets where available space is limited and loads are typically substantial. 
The P5T2 Series is ideal for handling frequent stops on conveyor equipment, tamping and pressing on packaging machinery, as well as the unloading/loading and clamping processes 
on assembly machinery.

The P5T2 Series is available in 12, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63, 80, and 100mm bore sizes with strokes up to 200mm. Maximum operating pressure is 1MPa (10 bar/145 psi). Primary 
features of the series include standard through-hole mounting on all sizes and available rear mounting - when special ordered - on all sizes, ensuring drop-in capabilities for a variety of 
installations. Top porting is standard, but rear and side porting are available on all sizes as well. A true rod-lock mechanism, which stops the unit in current position upon loss of air 
pressure, is available on 32mm through 100mm bore sizes.

Construction of the P5T2 thruster features an aluminum body and end caps; steel tool plate, support rods, and rod bolts; and a stainless steel piston rod. Standard nitrile seals operate 
at temperatures between -18( to 74(C (0( to 165(F). Fluorocarbon seals are available for high-temperature applications and have an operating range of -18( to 121(C (0( to 250(F).

A PTFE impregnated composite bushing is standard on all P5T2 models and provides high load carrying capabilities with excellent resistance to shock loading. Optional linear ball 
bearings provide precision operation with very low friction and wear.

HAND-HELD DOPPLER REACHES STABLE READING WITHIN SECONDS 

Providing accurate, fluid velocity assessment without opening the pipe is what Dynasonics UFX flow meter achieves. This hand-held meter utilizes a non-invasive transducer which is placed on the outside of the pipe. Its advanced ultrasonic measuring technique contains two piezoelectric crystals within one transducer to transmit ultrasonic energy into the fluid stream and receive reflected energy off discontinuities within the moving liquid. New Power Take Off (PTO) Valve from MEAD

A new panel/dash mounted PTO Valve from Mead has a safety interlock to prevent accidental engagement of the PTO pump which can cause severe accidents. 

This new valve has a re-set port that requires a signal to be removed or applied before the valve may be operated. 

This re-set signal can be interfaced with the vehicle’s hand brake or an alternate device to assure the PTO can’t be operated until the safety interlock is activated.

MTS Systems Corp. Sensors Division has developed the D-series sensor, a low-cost displacement sensor with Temposonics® magnetostrictive sensing technology. The D-Series sensor utilizes MTS’ patented non-contact sensing technology with the highest possible durability in linear positioning. With a measuring range of 50-1500mm and a direct position output of 0-10V, the D-Series is ideal for plastics, packaging, and materials handling machinery that currently use linear potentiometers, limit switches, or similar technology for motion control, based on cost considerations.

Each D-Series sensor is equipped with a waveguide sensing element, conditioning electronics for output position data, a protective IP 67 rated application housing that accommodates the complete modular electronic interface with active signal conditioning. The sensor can be easily mounted to machine surfaces with adjustable mounting clamps. Electronic connections are accomplished using the industry standard 4 pole socket DIN connectors. Parker Hannifin’s CVX emergency-stop vacuum generator combines an emergency-stop system and air economizing features to minimize air consumption in pick-and-place applications.

The emergency stop management system can maintain the last state of air during Emergency Stop or power failure. During one of these events, the vacuum-command signal is lost, but the system can detect the presence of a part and continue to maintain the vacuum state. Additionally, if the system detects that a vacuum state is not present, the vacuum state will not continue and will close to eliminate and unnecessary air consumption.

Air economizing features are controlled by the sensor outputs to minimize air consumption during normal operations. PLC programming is not required for Air Economizing Functions because this function is included in the electrical enclosure. Optional DeviceNet™ communications are available.

by two groves that run the length of the body. This will keeps the tooling jaws from loosing the center repeatability. Close attention must be made to the tooling jaws when designing 
them. Because the jaws swing an arc, the mechanism produces higher velocity at the end of your tooling during the stroke. Therefore, tooling jaws should be short, lightweight as 
possible, and flow controls are recommended. In cases where longer jaws are needed, bumpers or miniature hydraulic shocks should be used to decelerate the jaw at the end of the 
stroke. All of these units are double acting, have multiple airports, mounting locations and available with sensor options for easy interfacing to electrical controls.

constant column pressures and split flow rates.

Schunk Introduces the PZV 4-Finger Concentric Gripper

SCHUNK Inc. introduces a new series of 4-finger centric grippers known as PZV. Currently, 2- and 3-finger grippers cover most industrial and automation handling tasks. They offer high positioning accuracy when gripping coplanar cylindrical work pieces. 4-finger grippers are required if cylindrical work pieces are palletized in a grid. In the case of a 3-finger gripper, however, at least one of the fingers interferes with a neighboring component. The PZV takes advantage of the given space at the quadrants of the work pieces with its four fingers. The PZV gripper is ideal for these applications.

To make the PZV versatile during other applications, you can use it as a parallel gripper for clamping different parts by mounting two different sets of fingers. This eliminates the need to change tooling, while also reducing setup time. The PZV is available in 4 sizes and achieves grip forces from 580 N (130 lbf) to 7,100 N (1,600 lbf). With strokes ranging from 6 mm to 25 mm per finger, the PZV has the capability to cover a large range of work pieces.

The PZV is built with proven technology from the 2-finger PGN-plus and 3-finger PZN-plus grippers using the serrated jaw design. The serrated jaw design and the proven wedge hook system gives these grippers a higher moment capacity, thereby allowing higher accelerations and heavier workpiece weight. SCHUNK has also provided mounting for inductive proximity sensors with fully adjustable targets and integrated mounting of magnetic switches.

The Series AGR Rotary Actuator is available in five bore sizes (.5, .75, 1.0, 1.25 and 1.625 inch) with two standard rotations (90 and 180 deg.). All units feature standard angle adjustment of +/-5 degree in each direction with the adjustable hard stops. Standard port flow controls provide accurate control of rotation speed. Optional switch kits allow the use of inductive proximity switches for easy interfacing to electrical controls.

The CD26-PL is a new pneumatic ISO plug-in valve manifold system from Rexroth. In accordance with ISO standard 15407-2, the simultaneous pneumatic and electrical connection for the valve is done on the base plate. The design concept is based on the proven CD01 modular system. The CD26-PL has a width of 26 mm. The advantage of this plug-in solution is the ability to exchange the valves faster, easier, and safer. Adding to the flexibility of the line, are manifold threaded ports being available in both NPT and ISO-G (BSPP). Valve functions include single and double solenoid plus unique double 3/2 valves, allowing two functions from the same valve position, saving space and expense. Sandwich regulators are available for lateral and vertical stacking. 

The new valve manifold system can be used in all areas that require standardized ISO valves, such as the packaging industry, automotive industry, for machine tools, and in the printing and paper industries.
The system is available in a multi-pin plug version with a D-sub connector. Using this type of connection, the CD26-PL can be directly combined with the BDC, VDS, and DDL bus systems from Rexroth. At its point of suction, the plastic bag solution features PIAB’s new BL40-3P suction cup, made of DURAFLEX®, a strong, durable and elastic material with excellent sealing capability. 

The BL40-3P’s sealing lip is a very soft and thin (30 shore) durometer, while the multiple bellows is a more rigid (70 shore) durometer. The unique characteristics of the BL40-3P’s design provides enough strength and stability for high initial flow applications, while still providing the softness and flexibility required to seal uneven surfaces.

With its better sealing capabilities and stronger, more stable bellows, the BL40-3P also allows applications to run at higher speeds. The larger inner neck diameter and specially designed high flow fitting allow the high initial flow needed for a secure grip. Also, the BL40-3P increases flexibility, as the suction cup is more pliable and better able to handle a variety of different size and shape plastic bags.

New Linear Axis LIRAX-M With Direct Linear Actuation

SCHUNK Inc. introduces a new series linear axis, LIRAX-M LD, designed for assembly automation and for handling weights up to 20kg (45 lb.). The LIRAX-M-LD is constructed out of a drown drawn aluminum profile that has integrated roller guides and is actuated by an efficient linear motor. The lightweight profile gives the LIRAX-M-LD a standard stroke length of up to 2,000mm.

The LIRAX-M-LD axis modules are available in two different designs. The user can choose between a signal-drive slide with feed forces of 50 N (11 lbf) to 300 N (68 lbf), or a twin-drive slide which will double the feed force to 100 N (22 lbf) and 600 N (136 lbf) correspondingly. With the linear motor and roller guides, the LIRAX-M-LD provides for impressive acceleration of 70 m/s2 (230 ft/s2) which is seven times the acceleration of gravity and speeds of up to 5 m/s (16 ft/s). With this high acceleration and speed, the LIRAX-M-LD axis is able to hold a repeat accuracy of £ 0.01mm (.0004”).

Many applications formerly actuated by a rotating cam are now being designed and equipped with the superior technology of the linear motor like that in the LIRAX-M-LD modules. With the high speeds and accelerations of the LIRAX-M-LD has almost no wear, resulting in the longest possible service life.

Parker Hannifin Introduces Low-Profile Swing Clamp Cylinders

Parker Hannifin’s Actuator Division’s line of P1M Series Swing Clamp Cylinders has the smallest dimensional envelope possible for pneumatic workholding applications requiring a compact design and superior clamping capability. 

P1M Series Swing Clamp Cylinders are available in 32-, 40- and 50-millimeter bore diameters. The 32- and 40-millimeter bore units have two available clamp strokes of 10 or 20 millimeter. The 50-millimeter bore units have two available clamp strokes of 20 or 50 millimeter.

Clamp forces depend on operating air pressure and range from 27 lb (121N) for the 32 -millimeter bore units at 29 psi (2 Bar) to 371 lb (1,649N) for the 50-millimeter bore units at 145 psi (10 Bar). Maximum operating pressure for every bore size is 145 psi (10 Bar).

P1M Series Swing Clamp Cylinders have 90 degrees of either clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation and offer a variety of swing arm options, including an adjustable arm option. A flexible design allows the user to reverse the piston rod rotation in the field if necessary.

P1M Swing Clamp Cylinders have a three-piece bolted construction for quick servicing and an internal transfer tube for flexible porting and compact design. 

Standard porting configuration for the P1M Swing Clamp Cylinder is “both ports head” - one to extend the piston rod (unclamp), the other to retract it (clamp) - radially located in the head end (rod end) of the unit. Alternate porting options include “both ports cap” (radial ports in the rear end), “both ports cap face” (axially located in the cap face), or one radial port in the head and the other radial port in the cap.

The head, cap and cylinder body are constructed from anodized, smooth aluminum for superior corrosion resistance. An anodized aluminum rod cover houses the internal rotating components and provides a mounting pilot. A metallic rod scraper is standard on all bore sizes, as are polyurethane bumpers. Models are available with or without a magnetic piston. Standard seals include Buna nitrile rubber seals for the piston, piston rod and cylinder body. Fluorocarbon seals are available for high temperature applications to 121°C (250°F) and/or chemical compatibility.

New AS2 Series from Rexroth provides Smooth, light weight, modern design FRLs

The new AS2 series FRLs can fulfill the highest user demands for compressed air preparation. In the AS2 series, the individual processes for air preparation (filtering, regulating, lubricating, and draining) are combined into a single unit geared towards user requirements, such as easy component removal in an assembled state. 
The AS2 series of FRLs have a modular design that allows individual parts to be exchanged while the system is fully assembled. A patented oil filling system is used to directly feed oil into the system via a hose from the reservoir. This process protects the maintenance unit from becoming fouled up by oil. The lubricator is surrounded by a polyamide protective guard with a large inspection window that makes it easy to see the oil level. The entire unit can be secured by multiple padlocks and using the built-in locking mechanisms.

Rexroth's new air prep units are made of high-quality polymer, which results in a particularly light-weight system. The smooth surface is easy to clean and resistant to a variety of cleaning agents. Only the connection threads (available in NPT and ISO-G) are made of metal, so they can withstand higher tightening torques.
Filtration choices include 5, 0.3 or 0.01 micron. The condensate drain valve is available in designs that are normally closed or normally open without pressure. This innovation makes it possible to build up the operating pressure in larger systems faster and without any leakage.

New Hyde Park, NY -- 3 new series of Pneumatic Linear Rail Slides from Techno-Sommer, Inc. called the LS, LSF, and LSX Series feature compact design, high load capacity steel linear rails, and convenient mounting options. The LSX series of slides features 2 rails (9mm or 15mm) mounted on perpendicular planes to maximize the load and moment capacity. New Miniature Vacuum Switches from PIAB

A new series of pre-set mini vacuum switches, VS401x, from PIAB is now available for ordering. The VS401x range has been developed to offer the market reliable vacuum switches in a compact format and low weight at a competitive price. The main applications are for using pumps and suction cups in decentralized vacuum systems. Several vacuum switches can be of great importance to get a safe decentralized vacuum system. VS401x can easily be connected to PIAB’s “ultimate” decentralized system, VGS™3010 and the P3010, but it is also compatible with many other PIAB products.

Vacuum switches should be used to increase the safety and control of a vacuum system, and should be installed as close to the suction cup/point as possible for best system performance. The small and low-weight VS401x series offer great possibilities for good system solutions. The VS401x series are vacuum switches with one pre-set digital output. Pre-set vacuum switches are recommended to avoid, for instance, unwanted switching-point changes caused by operators. The switches have an M8 3-pin male connection plug and the output functions are PNP NO, PNP NC or NPN NO, NPN NC, all depending on how the plug pins are connected. The connection plug makes it easy to change the switch without the trouble of having to dismount the whole cable. Three different pre-set switching points are available, 9.0, 15.0 and 21.0 –inHg, and the vacuum connection comes as a push-in connector with a D=6 mm or a male G1/8” thread. A powerful built-in red LED that is visual from a distance indicates whether the switch is active or not. 

The protection classification is IP65 and field tests have proven that this new generation of mini vacuum switches is less sensitive to rough ambient conditions and dusty environments than the previously launched model.

SMC Corporation of America has released version 3.0 of their convenient Model Selection Software.

The application can be run right from the www.smcworld.com site, and allows users to input their pneumatic system requirements and see an output of the system characteristics, along with recommended product series right down to the basic part number. By considering initial cost as well as operating costs, the software also selects equipment that minimizes the total cost of the pneumatic system.

The GSU series represents a new generation of pneumatic linear drives from Rexroth. Excellent guiding qualities within a small unit make the GSU a versatile standard module in handling technology.

The new slide unit can be used in gantries as an X-axis or as a work piece pallet in material supply. The rodless construction makes the unit particularly compact and optimizes machine design. With a speed of up to 1.5 m/s (4.9 ft/s), this drive enables short cycle times. Standard guides ensure high rigidity and precise slide guiding. The name is a good start: GSU stands for Guided Slide Unit.

PT-AP 70 - New Servo Gripper Provides Sensitive Flexible Control

SCHUNK Precision Workholding Solutions has introduced the new PT-AP70 servo actuated gripper. The PT-AP70 was specifically designed to make difficult components such as glass, foam or sand molds easy to manage. The direct current servomotor is coupled to a gear driven ball bearing spindle. The fingers are guided with low friction linear bearings to allow ultra sensitive fully controllable actuation. Grip force, stroke and actuation acceleration can be dynamically controlled or controlled by pre-programmed parameters downloaded to the gripper. In contrast to pneumatically actuated units, the servo actuation is fully flexible.

PIAB INTRODUCES RESILIENT LC30 LEVEL COMPENSATOR 

Flexible Design is Ideal for High Automation Material Handling 

Hingham, MA - PIAB Vacuum Products, a leading manufacturer of industrial vacuum products and components, introduces the resilient LC30 level compensator, a new device that allows for extremely flexible material handling with suction cups. Designed to adjust level differences in lifting devices that are fitted with several suction cups, the LC30 decreases demand for exact vertical positioning. The LC30 is intended for material handling applications in a range of industries, including packaging, automotive, appliances, wood, HVAC, and other industries that require a high degree of automation.

PIAB’s LC30 can be easily integrated into any of the company’s vacuum products, especially the popular VGS™3010 (Vacuum Gripper System), which is an advanced solution for decentralized vacuum systems that combines DURAFLEX® suction cups and patented COAX® multi-stage ejector technology. The LC30 can mount directly in the groove of an aluminum profile, and is easily fixed in place with a hexagonal screw and T-nut.

Featuring a 1.18” (30mm) stroke with low building height, PIAB’s LC30 can be adjusted by 0.47”, and can also be made non-rotational. The LC30’s conical stainless steel spring rests in a polyurethane busing that ensures excellent damping characteristics and allows shock load at full stroke. The materials that comprise the level compensator have been chosen to minimize the weight of the mounting gripper, eliminating high shear forces and, thus, extending system life. The LC30 weighs just 7.76 ounces (excluding fixing screws) and has a maximum vertical load of 157 lbf.

Easy-2-Combine - The New Automation System from Rexroth

Directly combinable individual components simplify handling tasks with small parts. Providing customers with modular solutions for common handling processes is the central idea of the new Easy-2-Combine automation system.

Easy-2-Combine is the solution for multi-axis automation tasks with individual components that can be combined in simple, time-saving assembly steps. This means that the most common applications in assembly technology can now be done with standardized interfaces. Centering elements are used for interlocking mounting and connections for sensors and the air supply are provided at several positions throughout the system, making complicated and expensive connection kits unnecessary. Rexroth has Easy-2-Combine components that can perform linear movements, pneumatically driven rotation movements, as well as gripper functions. Many components feature easily adjusted end position settings, thus drastically reducing final commissioning time. Connection kits to flexibly assemble additional components will also remain in the Rexroth program. As a result of all this, the Easy-2-Combine system is already equipped for expansion. Rexroth's goal is to integrate additional components and sizes in the system Easy-2-Combine for increased handling technology solutions.

VENTURI VACUUM PUMPS, LIGHTWEIGHT, FAST, EASY TO USE

An upgraded line of micro-miniature, compressed air powered venturi vacuum pumps that eliminate vacuum controls and let designers use standard pneumatic controls is being introduced by ANVER Corp. of Hudson, Massachusetts.

ANVER JV Vacuum Pumps are lightweight venturi vacuum generators that can be used with high speed, high vacuum pick-and-place systems and provide milli-second attach-and-release. Weighing only 0.63 oz., they can be mounted at the pick-up point, accommodate several types of suction cups, and can be controlled using standard compressed air supply valves and components.

Providing the flexibility of using off-the-shelf compressed air components and fittings, ANVER JV Vacuum Pumps achieve a 26"Hg vacuum with either a 0.50 or 0.74 scfm flow rate. Molded from thermoplastic and color-coded with their flow rate, they are available with 5 mm female threads (which 10/32 fits right in) or with 5/32" (4 mm) O.D. tube connection ports.
